Some of the ways in which you can optimize your Facebook page include adding a link to a landing page in the About section. You can also do the same for your cover image by including the link in the description or you can add a call-to-action button for people to sign up for your list in your cover photo.

Pro tip: Even with paid ads, having a dedicated page is important for people who are researching your business. You can promote your list to them by creating posts from past email campaigns and including a link to where they can sign up for future newsletters.


Think of some incentives you can offer people for signing up. Maybe you have a downloadable guide to houseplant care or a private link to an online podcasting course. Maybe you simply want to give new subscribers a 25% off discount. Whatever you have to offer, use it to entice people to join your email list.


On your signup form, make it clear that you plan to send emails and promotional offers even after the contest is over. You might want to include a checkbox on your form for contestants to opt-in to receive the additional emails you want to send.


The vast majority of emails are successfully delivered to inboxes, and at least 20 percent are opened, even more if you send quality, relevant, juicy content. While an astounding 69 percent of American adults say they use Facebook, a study found that more than two-thirds say email, not Facebook, is the electronic media they check first in the morning.


If Facebook disappeared tomorrow, all your Facebook followers would be gone. You would have no way of contacting them. But an email list belongs to your organization. No one can take it away.


5. Offer something of value, such as a whitepaper, special report, or e-book your organization published or an infographic your organization created. When a person signs up to receive the item, request their email address.


7. Announce an important call-to-action on Facebook. Offer a link to your email sign-up as a concrete step supporters can take, along with making a donation, signing a petition, or signing up to volunteer. No matter what you want people to do, ask for their email.

5. Campaigns/Appeals: Of course, you will use email to let your supporters know about fundraising efforts. For big campaigns, you may want to send several emails. In your fundraising appeal, always include a compelling reason to donate, a short story about how your organization changes lives, and always make sure you send emails that are not campaign-focused in between campaign emails or appeals.


Ahhh... the siren song of the purchased email list. It seems so easy, so sensible and so logical. After all, what's not to like about spending a little bit of money to get thousands of "targeted" email addresses and then blasting your message to them?


First, it might be a good idea to review HubSpot's article titled "Why Buying Email Lists Is Always a Bad Idea (And How to Build Yours for Free)". After that, you will probably be a little more wary of purchasing lists.


There is another way to build custom audiences, however. You can upload a list of email addresses. When you do this, Facebook matches the email addresses against it's user database and finds (as much as possible) the Facebook users that go with them. It won't get all of them, but in our experience it gets to about 60% of them, which is not bad.


So what should your campaign look like? Rather than being tempted to blast out sales ad that tried to get someone to buy, try promoting a download, a video or a webcast. Then you will start to build a list of people that have some interest in what you do and then you can email them because they've opted in.


Bottom line: don't buy lists and email them, but if you do buy lists... start with a custom audience and build loyalty (and permission) from there. This ensure that you will remain ethical, legal and effective in your email marketing.


So, instead of targeting your ads to people through luck or broad demographics like age or gender, you can target your ads based on data pulled from your own website, app, offline lists or from Facebook itself.


A customer value is a number given to each customer on your list that tells Facebook how valuable this customer is to your business. If you want to take advantage of value-based Lookalike Audiences, this value is required.


Start by creating or uploading customer lists segmented by funnel stage. You may already have this for email marketing campaigns. Next, upload these segments as separate Custom Audiences, and potentially make Lookalike Audiences based on them to widen your advertising net.

Hello, I am someone who is navigating creating my first page boost or ad creation. I have had some instruction on how to create an ad if you have only recently created a website. In my case, I have no email list of contacts or any past customers to use for any of the sources that you listed to create a custom audience.


However, you did not even mention creating a new audience from scratch in the entirety of your article. You have been very explicit in your teaching style, however for someone like myself who has no criteria to create a custom audience from any existing social media interactions, I must rely on matching my products benefits to the best match of interests and other demographic and other matching headings in the audience insights tool to learn my ideal customers world and even learn the websights who DO already have huge lists of fans and likes etc FROM which I can then include in my own audience by asking FB to use their customers as criteria to model my audience after. I would have like to have had you explain how that can be done, for people like myself who are brand new to internet marketing and FB, who do or will not have any of the existing resources that you covered to borrow from to create a new custom audience from.
